- If you want to know how to validate with the portuguese aeronautical authorities your foreign license, plase check here the circular 09/01 of INAC.

- since Augist 2016 all fligfhts from or to Schengen Countries are treated by ANAC (the aviation authority) as international flights while before they were treated as normal domestic flights. Therefore the airport of Cascais, which lays inside controlled airspace, has been forced by ANAC to require previous permissions from ANAC for each flight flying directly from or to Schengen country. If you fly directly to Cascais from Spain or France (Schengen countries) without such permission, you will not be permitted to land! You will have to land first in an airport of entry, as Lisbon, Porto or Faro. Aopa Portugal is trying to modify this situation but until now without success.

REF AIP PORTUGAL GEN 1.2
PART 2 OF 2. 30 MAY 16:34 2017 UNTIL PERM. CREATED: 30 MAY 16:37 2017

Following Aopa Portugal and IAOPA complaints to ANAC and the Portugese Government against such restriction to the freedom of flying within Schengen, this Notam was cancelled on the 7th July 2017.

Presently (13/7/2017) the only Notam restricting international flights concerns exclusively extra EU - extra Schengen flights.

The practice followed in General Aviation aerodromes. in what concerns intra EU or Schengen international flights is the following:

Arrivals: no previous authorisation by ANAC is required, but pilots should provide information to aerodromes at arrival of identity of pilots and passengers, as well as copy of matriculation and insurance.

Departures : no previous authorisation by ANAC is required,  but pilots are required to notify ANAC by email or throught the aerodrome of the intended flight and provide copy of identity card of pilots and passengers, as well as matriculation and insurance of plane.

:    - You are invited to observe the attached presentation about the role of Aopa organizations in General Aviation.
